HATED IT!!!!!!!!
could it be that there were far worse offenders at the premiere of Obsessed than Beyonce...YES! these chicks look A HOT MESS! what were they thinking...better yet what the hell were they wearing?

I'm on the fence about the balmain dress that beyonce wore to the premiere of her movie that i refuse to see due to her acting preview that i had to painfully watch during the trailer. as much as i love idris elba, i'm sorry to say i just can't do it, i won't do it, i'm not gonna do it...seeing that movie is not an option for me.
but i like the dress...sort of. something is just off for me...idk...i like it i guess...idk...

this might be a bad idea
as beautiful and cute as cassie is she can't just go around shaving half her hair off and think it's a good look. she looks like ongina from rupaul's drag race.
current trend: ripped jeans
whenever one or two celebs start rocking a style that pretty much is nothing new, suddenly every celeb worth photographing is rocking said style and it's all of a sudden a "new" trend. this is the case at the moment of ripped jeans. ripping your jeans, making holes that didn't appear from wear and tear is totally nothing new! every cool girl and guy worth their cool salt owns a few pair of torn up, ripped up holey ass jeans. nevertheless it's a look i love that will be stomped into the ground in about a month or two...thanks to the "it" girls about town that get paid to be someone other than themselves.

Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2009
Dubbed the "Nomad" collection by Diane herself, had models traipsing down the runway Out of Africa, Alaska, Russia, India, Malaysia, and the good ol USofA's Native American Reservations. The Show was a wonderfully playful mix of fabrics and embroidery...leopard print leggings and velvet dresses, tapestry and camouflage. Of course the standout accessories donned by each model were the pompom hats and clog mules. With my favorite diva of all time pulsating thru the tents "Upside Down" the show closes with a gold lame dress a la Studio 54.

Throwback: Fashion Icon Donyale Luna
Donyale Luna was the first African American Supermodel. She was also the first African American Supermodel to appear on the cover of British Vogue in 1966. Born Peggy Anne Freeman in Detroit, she often claimed she is of mixed ancestry and not of african descent, though it is a proven fact that she was black and not of the mixed ancestry that she claimed to be. According to the journalist Judy Stone, who wrote a profile of Luna for The New York Times in 1968, the model was "secretive, mysterious, contradictory, evasive, mercurial, and insistent upon her multiracial lineage -- exotic, chameleon strands of Mexican, American Indian, Chinese, Irish, and, last but least escapable, Negro." A London magazine hailed her as "the completely New Image of the Negro woman. Fashion finds itself in an instrumental position for changing history, however slightly, for it is about to bring out into the open the veneration, the adoration, the idolization of the Negro ... "
Luna appeared in several Andy Warhol films as one of "The Factory Girls" as well as Fellini's Fellini Satyricon.
Luna died of a drug overdose in 1979 in Rome, Italy. She was 34 years old.

With the start of NY Fashion Week I plan to feature models of color and minority tastemakers in industry; In an effort to showcase women of color in the fashion industry that otherwise receive minimal recognition and often times no recognition at all. Hopefully during this Black History Month I will see the runways of the Fall 09 Shows looking just as diverse as the streets of NYC...

Louis Vuitton Spring 2009
I love the new Louis Vuitton ad campaign. The photos which were taken by Steven Meisel evoke a time where artists frequented smoke filled Parisian cafes at 4am to drink wine and talk about escaping the political climate of the American puritanical systems of the day. Where black artist, dancers, and writers could just be artist, dancers, and writers…Moving, Speaking, Pontificating to a rhythm that is much appreciated in this bohemian setting on the Left Bank. I am there, sitting at a table across from Baldwin and Baker washing down an early morning freshly baked croissant with a glass of Beaujolais.

Sometimes your handlers make bad decisions
I really love Angela Bassett. While she isn't exactly a fashion plate, i wouldn't exactly say i've ever seen her make a bad decision either. But her appearance on 106th and Park this week was a little strange...her attire that is. She's wearing a polka dot ball gown with an updo! I blame the person who dressed her of course...why would you put this woman is such a strange outfit for such an appearance? it's a young urban show...it would have been nice to see her dressed more appropriately...i'm not saying jeans and limited edition kicks or anything like that...but anything other than a ball gown would have sufficed. I understand she wore the gown to the premiere of Notorious, but I'm sure a quick wardrobe change wouldn't have been so daunting. Here's an outfit that i find more appropriate for 106th and Park (keeping her age and body in mind)...this outfit would have also worked better for the premiere of the film in my opinion as well.

I suck
This is something a friend of mine recently told me since I haven't blogged for about 3 months...
But the truth is I'm depressed.
My blog is supposed to be happy and I'm not in a jolly mood right now.
I recently interviewed at the house of Dior...that should have put me in a great mood...and it did for about 5 mins, until I realized that I probably didn't get the job...and now 4 days later, I haven't heard anything...so I'm double depressed.
